High above Zavidovići,
Blizna Hill stands proud and strong,
Fearless witness of the ages,
Guarding secrets all along.
Six-four-five—its wartime summit,
What untold truths does it hold?
Over Yolda and Rujnitsa,
Through the hills, its tales unfold.
Still it speaks of days of battle,
Every path conceals a story;
Bosnia forgives her wounds,
But she never will forget her glory.
O Blizna Hill, speak—let it be known:
Bosnian pride will never be forgotten!
Let Ruynitsa call across the Bosna:
Here, our homeland was defended with our lives!
O Blizna Hill, speak—let it be known:
Bosnian pride will never be forgotten!
Let Ruynitsa call across the Bosna:
Here, our homeland was defended with our lives!
Thunder rolled and lightning shattered
All along your forest crown;
Through the fire, loyal comrades
Bore their wounded brothers down.
Not a single step was taken
Back while Blizna watched the town;
Step by step, through woods and stone cliffs,
Bosnia’s fighters carried on.
Now a flag upon the summit
Waves with pride against the blue;
Zavidovići looks toward it,
With a heart more glad and true.
O Blizna Hill, speak—let it be known:
Bosnia’s valiant warriors are not forgotten!
Let Ruynitsa call across the Bosna:
Here, our homeland was defended with our lives!
O Blizna Hill, speak—let it be known:
Bosnia’s valiant warriors are not forgotten!
Let Ruynitsa call across the Bosna:
Here, our homeland was defended with our lives!
Now the hills around you echo,
Speaking proudly, speaking free;
Of the courage of our heroes,
Of their timeless bravery.
Yet the past still breathes around us,
Fresh upon that hallowed ground;
So we cherish and remember—
Never let their names fade out.
Let this song descend from Blizna,
Let it reach the town below;
May our freedom never leave us,
May all Bosnia hear and know.
History was writ in crimson—
Blizna Hill and Šadichka Visa;
For all time, this must be spoken,
Written down and not forgotten.
